Muscadet Sevre et Maine sur lie
Muscadet Sèvre et Maine is a classic and renowned white wine from western end of the Loire Valley, close to the city of Nantes, in France, made exclusively from the Melon de Bourgogne grape.
Despite having quite neutral profile, this dry and light wine is celebrated for its crisp acidity, minerality, and fresh citrus notes, often with a hint of sea breeze.
This wine is the best example, aged "sur lie", meaning wine is left in contact with the lees (dead yeast cells), which adds a creamy texture and enhances complexity with subtle yeasty flavor.
Muscadet Sèvre et Maine is the most widely produced sub-appellation of Muscadet, accounting for about 80% of the region's output, making it both popular and accessible.
